What the line leaves out.
Candles and volume add context
Candlesticks show open, high, low, and close. Volume bars show units of the selected asset traded on Coinbase during each interval. They are not total global volume or order-book depth.
Scale and averages change the view
Linear spacing compares dollar changes; log spacing compares proportional changes. The 20-period simple moving average smooths closing prices. It lags the market and is not a trading signal by itself.
One exchange, one view
The feed uses Coinbase USD pairs. Prices can differ across exchanges, and this chart does not represent a blended global market price.
Quotes attempt to refresh every minute while the page is visible. Changes in the price strip compare the latest reported trade with the exchange’s 24-hour opening value. Charts exclude the unfinished hour or day. The moving average uses 20 displayed periods (hours or days); the first 19 have no average. Missing candles produce an unavailable notice rather than an invented continuous series. Retrieval time is not a guarantee of an exchange’s data freshness.
