Active addresses ≠ individual people
One person can operate many addresses; a service can represent many customers. Growth is more informative when it appears alongside recurring usage and a clear economic purpose.

Public blockchain activity can test a narrative. It cannot tell you every user’s identity, purpose, or intention.

Coins can move between wallets controlled by the same owner. Exchange transfers, internal reorganizations, and automated activity may inflate raw transaction totals.
Fees show what users spend for network capacity. Low fees can be good for adoption, while higher fees can indicate demand or congestion. Neither interpretation works in isolation.
An incentive program can attract capital and transactions that leave when rewards end. Retention after the incentive changes is stronger evidence than a peak during the campaign.
| Asset | Useful lens | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| BTC | Coin movement, holding behavior, and exchange-related activity can add context to the monetary thesis. | A transfer toward an exchange is not proof that its owner will sell. |
| ETH | Fees, staking, issuance and burning connect activity to the asset’s economic role. | A rise in ecosystem activity is not a guarantee of a proportional increase in demand for ETH. |
| SOL | Fee-paying activity, user retention, and validator economics help test the application thesis. | A large transaction count does not establish that the activity represents independent, paying users. |
First ask whether the measurement changed. Then identify which applications contributed the growth, whether the users returned, and whether fees or economic value grew with the activity. A single large number is a clue, not a conclusion.
